Sicky

Poor little guy. He's got his first stomach bug. He woke up at midnight, 1:20 and 2:40 coughing. He coughed up white goo and fell back asleep each time. Then at 4:40, he woke up for a feeding. After he was all finished eating, it all came back up, and thensome. He was freaked out, I was freaked out... After he'd calmed down and he got a little happy, I fed him again. He threw that up, too. We went downstairs and I put him in his swing to relax.  After an hour in there, he threw up again (about 6am).

Will came downstairs and we all sat on the couch together. I spoke to a nurse at the children's hospital. She told me to feed Mason half as long as I usually do (it's hard to measure when you nurse) every 2 hours, and give him watered down Pedialyte in between feedings. She said it's important that he have wet diapers and his mouth is wet. Hydration seems to be the key. I fed him at 7, he passed out in the swing 15 minutes later and slept for an hour and a half.

I thought he was on the mend at that point. I was wrong. While I was at the store getting Pedialyte, Mason threw up all over Will in the park. Poor guys! After that, we gave him milk or Pedialyte, one teaspoon every 5 - 10 minutes. He went down for a nap at 11:30. As I type this, it's 2pm and he's still asleep. I will update later on!

UPDATE, 6:20 pm:
Knock wood, Mason hasn't thrown up since 10am! He napped until about 2. We gave him pedialyte every 10 minutes for about 2 hours. He was SO hungry! Then we gave him 1.5 oz. of milk around 4. He was SO pissed when the bottle was empty! We've given him 2 two oz. bottles since then. He's had a couple of wet diapers, and even on gross poo. So we'll keep on with the pedialyte to keep him hydrated. I hope he's done with the spitting up. Poor little guy!

UPDATE #2, 12:30pm next day:
Yay! No vomit since yesterday morning!!! He even had an old-fashioned breastmilk poo this morning! Oh the good old days of non-stinky, mustard poos!
