SparkPeople!

I started a "diet" last week. I used all I know from my many Weight Watchers experiences and the SparkPeople website. With SP, I didn't need to write down what I'd eaten. I entered it into their site, and it kept track of the calories, protein, fat and carbs I ate each day. If a food wasn't in their database, I entered its nutritional info.

You want to know how much I lost in the first week? 4 pounds!!!! YAY!

Here are small changes I made:

  • Drank at LEAST 8 cups of water a day
  • Stuck to portion sizes on the nutritional info
  • Had fruit/veggie snacks instead of Wheat Thins/Cookies
  • Had salad and at least 1 vegetable with dinner
  • If I had a carb with dinner, I measured it instead of continuing to load up spoonfuls on my plate

In addition, this week, twice I had meals that were not "diet". We had dinner at our neighbor's, which included ribs, wine and cheesecake. I ate everything, but didn't stuff myself. Then yesterday for lunch, we had hamburgers. Big, juicy hamburgers. I had a salad with mine instead of fries. I'm glad I did, the dressing I had was AWESOME!

I don't think I'll lose 4 pounds again, but hopefully I can continue to lose!

Kayak Trip

We went kayaking on Saturday! Will and I went with our neighbors, Simone and Marc, and another couple. We went through a scenic mangrove tree "path" at Fort de Soto park. Simone and Marc lent us their kayak for two, which was great, because Will and I were right next to each other the whole time, and we could talk and laugh. Also, it meant I didn't have to paddle all the time! Will said when I paddled we went way faster, so I tried to contribute as much as I could.

After kayaking, we had a picnic. This guy picked garbage nearby while we ate...

Kayaking

Will and I took a Kayaking lesson yesterday! It was SUCH fun! We went with a guy named Carolina Mike (Carolina is a brand of kayak), and we had him all to ourselves, because the other people who signed up for the class bailed. The lesson was about 4 hours long, with the first hour on land, learning about the kayak and paddles and gear. We paddled all around Coffee Pot Bayou, an inlet of Tampa Bay, about a mile from our house. I would love to go again!

Carolina Mike teaches a Kayaking for Fitness class, which sounds fun, but too strenuous for me in my "delicate condition". So we may rent kayaks soon, so we can have a lower intensity, fun workout!

Here is the article about Carolina Mike that peaked Will's interest, and got us signed up for a lesson!

Prenatal Yoga

I took a prenatal yoga class last night! It was a small class, only one other expectant mommy, me and the instructor, Danielle. I think there were supposed to be more mommies, but it was nice to be so cozy my first time. It felt so good to stretch and relax. Danielle said she will teach us how to stretch and move so we can move the baby if he/she is in an uncomfortable position. That sounds cool, to be in touch with your body and baby like that! Plus, I get to meet other mommies. I don't get many chance to meet other people, since I work from home.
