We saw the Beastie Boys on Friday night at the Nassau Coliseum. It was an AWESOME concert. They opened with "No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn", they closed with "Sabotage" (they dedicated it to Bush). Before their "Sabotage" encore, the lights went out and they left the stage. When the lights came back on, they were in the middle of the General Admission area, inside a second, floor-level stage. They performed "Intergalactic" over there and then headed back to the stage to perform their last 2 songs.
They have changed the lyrics of some of their songs. They don't reference girls as "hos/whores" anymore. In "No Sleep...", the line "MCA's in the back 'cause he's skeezin' with a whore" changed to something like "MCA's on the back 'cause he's got himself a sore". Hee. Thanks for the respect!
They did a TON of songs from the first CD. When they did "Paul Revere", they let the audience sing it. The funny thing was, most of the kids in the audience weren't even BORN when that CD came out!
The boys aren't looking so good these days. Well, two of them... Mike D looked sickly. I think it was the lighting. Big shadows made his eyes and face look hollow. MCA has that salt and pepper hair thing going on. Ad Rock is still as I remember him. So effing cute. I heart him. But no matter what they look like now, those boys can still jump around like nobody's business, and they can still put on an AWESOME live show.
