I started a photography class tonight! It is at the St. Pete Arts Center. There are six more Mondays for this class. I hope to learn to use the new camera in manual mode, and I hope to be a better photographer at the end of the class.
Tonight's class was just an introduction. The instructor, Beth Reynolds, introduced herself, we introduced ourselves, and she talked about what we will learn. She was really nice, accomplished, and she is heavily involved with so many facets of St. Pete's community! I think I can learn a lot from her.
Before we had class, there was a speaker. Melissa Lyttle works at the St. Pete Times, she's a photojournalist. She started APhotoADay. It is a listserv where when you sign up and get tons of emails from photographers around the country of what they are shooting. There is sometimes discussion about the subject matter, or the camera settings used to take the photo. Her creation is a great community of photographers. She shared her photos with us and then some photos of people on APAD. It was inspiring.
