It seems like the Amoxicillin is doing its thing. I call it "medicine", Mason calls it "mee mee". He hasn't had a fever at all since Monday, so we think the infection has waned.
The sleep is still not where it "should" be. And the happy guy we are usually greeted by is so sad. The teething has been really hard on him. I think all three remaining eye teeth are hurting him so badly. He woke from his nap today crying, and no comforting could help him stop. He stopped when the Tylenol kicked in. Poor saddy.
Mason's first canine poked through today! It is his lower left pointy tooth. One down, three to go, and then we may have a less whiney baby!
Poor Mason, he's having a hard time of it this week. His eye teeth are coming in. I expect the lower leftie to poke through at any moment.
Last night, he was up at 11 and needed a cuddle to get back to sleep. Then he was up at 2:30, and I slept with him on the couch until 4 when I woke up and placed him back in the crib. THEN he was up at 6:15 for the day. Two nights before it was a similar drill, except when he woke up at 1am, he didn't go back to sleep until 3am! Thank goodness his naps are (up to now!) uneffected.
We're all a little tired over here! I hope these teeth get in quickly. Then I guess we have the fun of the 2nd-year molars!
Two new molars! Mason's 10th tooth poked through a week ago, and #11 poked through two days ago. He's in such good spirits despite the teething. Sweet tough guy.
No wonder Mason's sleep has been off this week... He's been working on poking out his first first year molar! I saw it this afternoon while I was tickling him. It's on the upper right. That makes nine teeth! GO MASON!
Interesting fact I Googled... Did you know that the first year molars typically come in before the canines? They leave a small space for the pointy teeth to grow in!
Mason's next top 2 teeth are cute little flower buds now! They probably popped through around September 7. Tooth #7 on the bottom right was next. I first spotted it last Friday (9/14) when we were in the airport. Today I saw its mirror image popped through on the bottom!
Yay for four little tooth buds!

Teeth!

If I am ever on "Inside the Actor's Studio", when James Lipton gets to the questions at the end and asks me what my least favorite word is, I'll be ready with my answer. "Teething", I'll say.
It's been rough on me and Will. I can't imagine how rough it is for the little guy. Painful poking at his gums, swollen mouth, fever. All of the above waking him from a sound sleep, so he is crying this shrilly, sad cry. We give him Tylenol, Motrin, Orajel swabs, teething tablets. Sometimes he can get back to sleep, other times he's too wound up from the crying. Sometimes he will nurse back to sleep, sometimes it hurts too much for that. The past 2 days, he's gone to bed around 7, and woke up at 8 crying that sad cry. Yesterday he was up until 11. Today he got back to sleep in his swing pretty quickly.
I hope he gets a break from the pain soon. I hate seeing our happy baby so sad.
Here's my sweet munchkin through the window in his stroller...
This post is to officially make note of Tooth #4. It poked through the gums on Monday, July 9.
Teeth #s 5 and 6 are poking at Mason's gums on top, and 7 is in the race on the bottom. Poor guy is very uncomfortable.
